Online dating is basically having a relationship with someone you met online or over the internet. It
doesnt neccessarilly mean you know the one you are dating personally.This practice has its own success and
dangers associated with it. People who date online sometimes find their life partners whilst some get
disappointed.
There are many people who have married someone they dated online , this marriage also have its
success stories and dangers associated with it.
For instance, some people arranged their marriage online especially when they live in different countries.
They agree on the date for their wedding and they meet in an appointed country to take their vows ,
this kind of practice it very dangerous because both couple have little information about themselves and this
kind of relationship surely wont last long, this is prone in people who have been recently divorced and are
looking for life companions to avoid been lonely.
Another scenario is people who meet online to find a partner and then go on a date offline ( in the real world)
, this allows them to know each other well before committing themselves or tying the nut.
In this modern world , access to data and information such as pictures and videos has become very easy ,
many people google for stock photos and they use it as their profile pictures thereby deceiving the public by
pretending to be someone else. This is not easily seen because this perpetrators use more than 10 pictures
of the same person making it very difficult to know whether its the real person or not. Usually many
scammers use this method to dupe desperate people who want to get married.
We recently saw on aljazeera news about how a woman from america was duped of $200,000 by a
nigerian scammer who pretended to be a navy official from USA abandoned in Afghanistan .
The short story is , the guy (nigerian scammer ) pretended to be american soldier abandoned in afghanistan
and he needed money to buy ticket and some other stuff to enable him to come to the usa secretly , the
desperate woman needing marriage badly ,sent the money to the scammer and the scammer told her to wait
for him at the airport on an appointed day , you all know the end of the story, the guy never showed up.
